Suresh Raina, Raising to a new stage

Century on Test debut, not an easy one to achieve , provided the conditions it made it lot tougher. But it is the tougher ones who gets going when the going gets tougher. Suresh Raina announced his arrival in test cricket in a majestic fashion as he saved not only the test match but the series , since India went on to win the final Test match and level the series 1-1 , helping Team India keep the ICC No:1 test ranking intact.
I always liked this 23 year old Cricketer since his debut at the international arena at the age of 19.He had spent a lot of time practicing the game during his school days and even in his teen. His dedication towards the game is very impressive. The ease with which he bats makes batting look very simple. He has got a very wide range of shots for his age. It was very ironical to see him bat with sachin, i feel this little guy can play this game for long time and finish it close to sachin. Still these are early days, but let me predict. This blog can be a historical one if what i imagine happens over a decade. His authority over the game earned him captaincy for Chennai Super Kings in the absence of Dhoni in IPL3.
He played against the likes gilchrist,Bret lee, murali so many great cricketers, never was intimitaded at any stage. Even when he was in the early stages of his one day appearances he had not shown immaturity often. His knowledge about the game and the attitude towards winning makes him one of the finest talents in the Indian Squad. One who keeps thinking about the game can only be better fielders, thats how they show their involvement in the game. Even on many occasions Dhoni had tossed the ball to this youngster to bowl crucial overs. He is not a great spinner of the cricket ball but i can say he ll contain scoring better than bowlers like Ajit agarkar 10 out of 10 times.Just a comparison for his confidence. It is not easy to sustain at International Level when you make your entry very early during 19s and 20s. Raina has played nearly 100 ODIs so far and has decent record considering his batting position. His test match cap has come in a correct time where his success rate , conversion of starts to big scores are very likely with his experience in ODIs.
All i can say is, note down guys a genius is in the making, if todays kids are looking for next generation Sachin Tendulkar it could very well be Suresh Raina.

My first Surgery

Let me be clear, am not a doctor to do a surgery but by all possibilities i can undergo one. My turn came 15 days back. I had torn a ligament in my right knee which is called ACL. The incident happened on may 10th 2010 when i opted to play a football match for my deputed company General Electric at Bangalore. i postponed the surgery for two months only to worsen the condition. Finally i decided to get it operated at Chennai. I selected Bone and joint hospital at Anna nagar. All the doctors i consulted before told me surgery is the only option for getting my knee right and get back to sporting activities. i initially thought the surery would not be a complex one. People said Arthroscopy involves little incision. But overall my experience at the hospital after surgery turned to be a horrible one. Surgery took 3 hours and was in ICU for the rest of the day.
When i got back to consciousness it was intolerable pain for the first two days. At this point i should say why i got admitted to this hospital rather than the likes of Apollo, Miot etc. I have an inner fear about these big hospitals of making things complex, once i had the experience of seeing a person die even after donating lot of blood at Apollo. coming back to this hospital, the attention given to the patient was very poor. The AC dint work for the first three days, even after repeated complaints, it wasnt cleared before the 4 th day. Nurses showed little interest in attending if you call them or press the emergency calling bell. It was the house servicing people who showed more care i should say. one of them went to an extent of assisting me in taking tablets, i liked the slang he used, " onnu vittu oru naal daily intha mathraiya sapidunga" . The doctor who operated me finally came and checked me after two days. after so many disappointments i finally got discharged from hospital on 6 th day. its been two weeks and am still in bed rest. Post surery rehabilitation for this particular Ligament reconstruction will take 6 months.i got to regularly attend physiotherapist and it goes on and on and on. Finally my conclusion would be, it is rightly said " Prevention is better than Cure".. My dear makkale aalam theriyama kaala vudathinga. Noyetra vazhve kuraivatra selvam, even though your insurance takes care of bill settlement. best wishes.
